Your body works all day to keep blood sugar steady. When meals are skipped, protein is low, refined carbohydrates are frequent, hydration is poor, or stress is high, blood sugar can rise and fall in ways that leave the body feeling tired, hungry, foggy, or driven toward cravings.

Your gut is part of your metabolic communication system.
The gut is not separate from metabolism. The gut microbiome helps influence appetite signaling, nutrient absorption, satiety, and the body’s natural GLP-1 pathway. This is one reason Dr. T places gut support early in the sequence.
A healthier gut environment can help the body receive and respond to metabolic signals more clearly. That is why this pathway pays attention to fiber, fermented foods when tolerated, protein, hydration, and gut-supportive daily habits.
Cortisol can influence how the body stores and uses energy.
Cortisol is not bad. It helps the body wake up, respond to demands, and mobilize energy. The issue is when stress stays high, sleep is disrupted, and the body receives repeated signals that it needs to protect itself.
In this pathway, cortisol matters because chronic stress can influence cravings, blood sugar swings, belly-weight patterns, disrupted sleep, and recovery capacity. This is why BWS does not start most members with aggressive intensity. The goal is metabolic support without adding unnecessary stress load.
